Thank, you Alison. It's proving to be a rich vein. Plus, I can't help it!

I’ve been wondering, how do athletes fare in asthmatic inducing environments? Is this not an ethical concern for the event organizers?

Well, a good question. It wasn't windy at the time, so the air quality was fine. They have cancelled the swim at other events for water quality, delayed it for fog, and cancelled events altogether for forest fire smoke.

Thank you. I increasingly think about the intersection between athletic events, ethics, and the environment.

I loved reading this John--I visited the Salton Sea once, not knowing much about it, and it was....well, um, rather devastatingly sad. But the way that centering water brings in all these tributaries (haha!) into one lens is fascinating and profound. Grateful for your perspective and cheers to your wife!

Thank you, Freya. I have a complicated relationship with the whole area. It can be stunningly beautiful and profoundly sad at the same time. The art installations really lean into that.

Here are some more photographs. https://www.behance.net/gallery/171815751/Bombay-Beach

I remain drawn to it, as a moth to a flame.

Thanks. I should do more with my photography here.

In this case, all credit to the installations. It was hard to take a bad photograph. There's performance art too. Shortly after I took the picture of the tall tripod, it was used for a shibari performance. Always something going on.
