Good thing neither of you decided to grow up to be a couch potato! :) I loved the "livestream" reference, and the one to Wile E. Coyote. I do struggle with what agriculture has done to our lands and waters, realizing that at the end of the day (as you note) it's human consumption driving the way those production systems operate. I was not familiar with fish pulse or cheat grass. Appreciate the opportunity to learn through your adventures.

Every region has it's agricultural challenges. If I recall correctly from my days back east, yours is pigs and chickens.
Mostly chickens where I am. Pigs are concentrated in North Carolina.
I just watched that SNL skit for the first time and checked out the date it was aired - May, 1993. I was living aboard a sailboat, about to weigh anchor for a move south. SNL was not on my bingo card right then. But - ha! What a skit!
We made it as far south as Maryland and never left.

I love the Yakima Canyon. My husband and did a bike ride there once - it was a fundraiser and they had closed the road to traffic.
